| Inside the Design of Fancy Pork |

When I first thought of the design for the site, I had two primary ideas in mind:
- I wanted to play on the red/blue optical tricks that confuse depth-of-field perception.
- I wanted the logo to be reminiscent of a multinational chemical conglomerate from the early 1970's: something that would bring to mind a company that could manage to fund large Public Broadcasting System (PBS) grants while manufacturing volatile organic compounds and ozone-depleting flourocarbons.
The result of trying to produce this very specific connotative logo resulted in the above: I'm not sure what exactly this maps to from my childhood memories, but I recall driving with my family past industrial parks in Pennsylvania that had similar futuristic, rounded logo forms. I think the basic idea reflected in the above graphic lends itself particularly well to an industrial park with deep ties to a variety of industries. It's generic enough to be multi-purpose, but continues to convey a technological, forward-thinking focus.
